What is an alice band?
We often get asked ‘what is the difference between an alice band and a headband?’ The truth is, they are exactly the same thing!
Alice bands or headbands are defined as accessories worn in the hair to hold hair back and out of the face (Wikipedia).
The term alice band is said to have originated around the late 19th century following the publication of Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice Through The Looking Glass, where Alice in wonderland wears a ribbon tied in her hair. This makes the term alice band the more traditional name for a headband, and for this reason alice band is often used more frequently in the hair accessory trade.
